Be the Change You Wish to See

I'm doing anything and everything I can to make a difference in my local community, within my group of friends, with local charities, by volunteering and by learning more about important issues.

I'm paying it forward to be the change I wish to see.

Top Reasons Being The Change You Wish To See is the Most Essential Lifedirection Ever

One person can make a difference, and with the following list of problems, we need everyone to make a difference.
  • There are still people in the richest country in the world who are homeless. The homeless are now the elderly, families with children and people who work full-time. They are not bums.
  • Forty-seven million Americans still don't have health insurance.
  • Too many young Americans growing up in poor districts (both rural and inner city) can't read.
  • The U.S., the richest, most technologically advanced country in the world still has an infant mortality rate of 6.4 deaths per 1000 live births before the age of 1 year (2007 statistics, CDC). That makes us number 19 of all the nations in the world.
  • The U.S. infant mortality rate increased in 2008 to 29th in the world. We should be 1st on the list as the country with the lowest infant mortality rate. This is criminal and inexcusable.
  • There are many American households headed by a full-time worker who are below the poverty line.
  • A single parent with one child making the current minimum wage (11/2008) working 40 hours per week is below the poverty line for a family of two.
  • The school system doesn't work and 1 out of 3 teenagers drop out of high school; that's 33% who don't graduate.
  • The U.S. and the world are facing a huge energy crisis if we don't start working on solutions right now. We need non-fossil fuel sources that reliably provide us with abundant electricity and affordable, environmentally friendly transportation.
  • The savings rate in the U.S. is currently negative 3%. We Americans spend more than we make.
  • There are many wars going on in the world.
